Lekkos Ilias

Group Chief Economist at Piraeus Bank
Dr.Lekkos IliasDr. Lekkos is the Chief Economist at Piraeus Bank Group, responsible for the Economic Analysis and Investment Strategy Division of Piraeus Bank Group. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Economic & Industrial Research (IOBE) and a member of the Council of Economic Advisors of the Hellenic Bank Association. Before joining Piraeus Bank he was a Senior Economist at Eurobank-EFG and prior to that he has worked at the Bank of England, HBOS-Treasury Services and Standard and Poor’s. Dr. Lekkos holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Athens University of Economics and Business, an MSc in Economics and Finance from Warwick University and a PhD in Finance from Lancaster University. His research has been published in a number of academic journals.

Dr.Monokroussos PlatonDr. Platon Monokroussos is Deputy General Manager and Chief Market Economist at Eurobank Ergasias S.A., one of the four systemic banks in Greece. He is member of the Scientific Council of the Hellenic Bank Association and its representative to the Chief Economists Group (CEG) of the European Banking Federation. He is also a member of Board of Directors of Grivalia Properties REIC, a public company which manages one of the most important commercial property portfolios in Greece and Eastern Europe. He holds a Professional Qualification Certificate for the provision of investment services (type D) issued by the Bank of Greece. Before joining Eurobank, he held high-level positions in leading financial institutions, including ABN AMRO and Bank of America. Dr. Monokroussos holds a Bachelor's degree in theoretical Mathematics (University of Crete, Greece), Masters Degrees in Economics (Clark University, Worcester, MA USA) and Business Administration (Boston College, Wallace E. Carroll School of Management Boston, MA USA) as well as a Diploma in Business and Corporate Leadership from Harvard Business Publishing. He received his Ph.D. from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Doctorate thesis on foreign exchange microstructure). Dr. Monokroussos has written extensively on contemporary macroeconomic and financial issues and he is co-editor of the book “A Crisis Manual: A Retrospect of the Crisis and the Road to Recovery”, Palgrave Macmillan Studies in Banking and Financial Institutions Series (upcoming). He has participated as a speaker in numerous international economic forums and has regularly been cited in the international financial press and newswires, including Financial Times, The International Herald Tribune, The Wall Street Journal, Reuters and Bloomberg. Furthermore, he has appeared on CNN, BBC, CNBC as well as other leading broadcasters. In recent years, his team has repeatedly been included in the Reuters top-10 list of most accurate global forecasters of major exchange rates.

Siokos Stavros

Dr.Siokos StavrosStavros is co-Founder of Astarte Capital Partners. He has 25 years of experience in building and managing businesses in various areas of Capital Markets, Asset Management and Alternative Investments.

Previously he was CEO of Sciens Alternative Investments, leading the development of the firm’s strategy in the liquid alternatives and real assets space, including partnerships in aviation and shipping. During his tenure he successfully launched a series of funds attracting significant institutional capital from around the world.

Prior to Sciens, he was head of Asset Management for Piraeus Group, where he co-led the Private Equity team and launched three funds.

Before Piraeus, he was Managing Director at Citigroup for 13 years where he was global head of alternative executions, portfolio trading strategies and pension fund solutions.

He holds an Electrical and Computer Engineering Diploma from the University of Patras, Greece, a MSc in the same field and a Ph.D. in Operations Research from the University of Massachusetts.

Goudinakos Stratos

Goudinakos StratosStratos Goudinakos, a veteran floor trader, has been actively involved in Capital Markets and Finance, Banking/Investment Banking /Asset Management/Insurance for over 20 years.

Starting out at London's LIFFE as an options market maker/Director of Investments, he built and managed complex derivative portfolios (inter - intra volatility spread structures).

On his return to Greece he joined NBG Group, Head Derivatives & Proprietary Trading; managed the desks of market making, arbitrage and sales, set up an international prop desk and was also responsible for hedging the bank's bond book. He, consecutively, moved to NBG's asset management, as Chief Investment Officer.

In succession, he participated (partner) in the buyout of an investment company and its extensive restructuring; in addition, he developed and started up Ulysses Global Macro Hedge Fund which invested mainly in high grade markets on currencies, bonds, stocks, indices and commodities. Member of Investment Committees in Capital Management; moreover, managing own assets, trading in international derivative markets.

He also served at ATE Insurance - Ergo as Chief Risk Officer responsible for Solvency II requirements.

In addition, he sits in numerous Boards of Banks, Asset Managers and Insurance Sector Companies.

Currently, he is the Chairman of TEA EAPAE”s ALCO as well as the Investment Manager of the Fund. He is also the vice Chairman of ATEIR and a member of the Board at Epirus Co-Op Bank.

He holds a Diploma in Chemical Engineering of Patras University in Greece, a DBA from Cardiff Business School University of Wales, and an MBA from CASS Business School of City University; he also holds certificates from TEE, SFA and the HCMC in Market Making & Asset Management.

Magginas NicholasNicholas S. Magginas is the Head of Macroeconomic Research of the Greek Economy in the Economic Analysis Department of the National Bank of Greece. He received his Ph.D. on international monetary-policy transmission mechanism from the Department of International and European Economic Studies, Athens University of Economics and Business (2006). He has published in international academic journals such as the Journal of Monetary Economics, the International Journal of Central Banking, Economic Modeling and the Economic Inquiry, in the fields of monetary policy rules, the role of bank lending channel in policy transmission, the macroeconomic drivers of non-performing loans and the role of expectations in the inflation process.

Massourakis MichaelMichael Massourakis is the Chief Economist of SEV Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (since April 2015). Before that, he had served as Chief Economist of Alpha Bank since 1996. He studied economics at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (PhD, 1983). He worked as an Economist at the International Monetary Fund (1983-1986), Washington DC, and the Council of Economic Advisors (1987-1996), Athens. He served as an Alternate Member at the E.U. Monetary Committee (1988-1996), Member of the Board of the Capital Market Committee (2000-2004) and President of the Scientific Committee of the Greek Federation of Banks (2012-2015). He is a Member of the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors of the Institute of Economic and Industrial Research (ΙΟΒΕ), and a Member of the Advisory Committee of the Greek Statistical Authority.
